One of the best parts of Christmas is seeing the look on your loved one’s faces when you hand them your gift. But how many times have you given it to them and they guessed what the gift was before they even opened it?
Here are some great wrapping tips that will keep the mystery of your
gift until it is unwrapped.
Use empty paper towel or toilet paper rolls to disguise many gifts,
such as necklaces, ties, belts, and even gift certificates. When you
place the gift inside the empty roll, wrap the roll in wrapping paper
and tie the ends with ribbon. Not only are you disguising what the gift
it, it will look very elegant.
For odd-shaped gifts, such as a tennis racket or a baseball bat, diguise
their shapes. The best way to hide something shaped this odd would be
to layer it in with something else you bought. If you bought a new sweatshirt,
wrap the baseball bat in the sweatshirt and then disguise it in a much
larger box than necessary. Or wrap in thick wrapping paper or a brown
paper bag to truly keep them guessing. (Newspaper may bleed ink onto
clothes so beware!) Your gift recipient will never know what you're
giving them until they tear open the many layers of paper and/or clothes!
For gift cards, wrap them in a huge box with an iron. This is a funny
trick to play on friends and family. They'll truly think they're getting
something much bigger than a gift card. Tell them to "think outside
the box" and strategically tape the giftcard to the inside front cover.
Another way to disguise a light-weight gift is to wrap in a box with
something heavy. For example, if you are giving someone a gift certificate,
tape the gift certificate to a patio brick that you can buy for under
a dollar. Then place the brick either in a box or wrap it in a heavy
paper. They’ll never guess what it is.
For some gifts, no matter what you do when wrapping, it can not be disguised.
At this point, you want to invest in some oversize gift bags. These
are more popular than ever and are found at almost any store. The most
important thing to remember is to have fun with your giving. Another
fun thing to do is putting together a basket of goodies with a theme.
For the young teenage girl, put together a basket of beauty aids. Place
the basket in a large box, wrap it, and she’ll be thrilled when it’s
opened. For the man in your life, fill the basket with goodies. No man
can resist them.
